Draft Resolution on Early Termination of Powers

According to Главком: A draft resolution for the early termination of the powers of Member of Parliament Daria Volodina, based on her personal request, has been published on the website of Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada. The draft resolution was submitted by MP Serhii Kalchenko.

About Daria Volodina

Born on April 16, 1991, Daria Volodina graduated from the Economics Faculty of Taras Shevchenko National University and studied at the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. In 2019, she was elected to the Verkhovna Rada of the 9th convocation from the Servant of the People party, holding the 65th position on the party list. Volodina serves on the Committee on Finance, Tax, and Customs Policy. In 2021, she joined the inter-factional association 'Smart Politics' led by Dmytro Razumkov.

The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Regulations, Deputy Ethics, and Organization of Work has supported her request to resign her mandate. The text of the resolution states:

“To terminate prematurely the powers of the People's Deputy of Ukraine Volodina Daria Artemivna, elected in the nationwide multi-mandate electoral district, political party Servant of the People, in connection with a personal statement on the resignation of her deputy powers.”

It is important to note that, according to a statement by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, MPs wishing to resign their mandates during martial law must either continue their work in parliament or go to serve on the front lines. This resignation occurs against the backdrop of a significant reduction in the parliament's size; by the end of 2025, the Verkhovna Rada will be left with 395 deputies.

The early termination of Daria Volodina's powers may signal shifts within Ukraine's political landscape, particularly under the conditions of ongoing war. It has been stated that deputies who choose to resign must consider their responsibility to the citizens and the state. Such departures could influence the future work and policy direction of the Verkhovna Rada during this challenging period for the country.

As the parliamentary committee has endorsed Daria Volodina's resignation, the implications for her future and the political dynamics in Ukraine are becoming clearer. For those interested in understanding the next steps and potential consequences of this decision, further details can be found in our article on the committee's support for her resignation.
