Pepsi launches a healthy cola: drink recipe changed for the first time in 20 years
Pepsi Cola with prebiotics hits the market
American company PepsiCo Inc. has introduced a new cola with prebiotics, which is the first change in the category of traditional cola-based beverages in 20 years. This was reported by Glavkom citing the company’s press release.
This innovation contains five grams of cane sugar, 30 calories, and no artificial sweeteners. It retains the classic fresh taste of Pepsi, refreshing, and also contains three grams of prebiotic fiber
The novelty has been named Pepsi Prebiotic Cola and has become unique in the category of cola-based beverages in the last 20 years. It will be available in both a single can of about 355 ml and packs of eight cans of the same volume. Online sales of the drink will begin this fall, while in retail stores it will launch early next year.
Changes in the compositions of beverages from PepsiCo and Coca-Cola
In early July, it was announced that PepsiCo had reduced the sugar content in Pepsi and Mountain Dew drinks by 35-40% and started using artificial sweeteners. At the same time, Coca-Cola is also preparing changes in beverage compositions under the influence of the initiative 'Let’s Make America Healthy Again', aimed at reducing sugar and artificial additives in food.
In summary: The company PepsiCo has released a new cola with prebiotics, which is characterized by the absence of artificial sweeteners and contains beneficial prebiotic fiber. This move comes against the backdrop of general demands to reduce sugar and artificial additives in beverages, which reflects the strategy of other major companies in the industry.
