Her death was caused by an aggressive and inoperable brain tumor, diagnosed less than a year prior. The disease was discovered at a late stage, leading to severe complications. By May 2025, Plashenko began losing the use of her legs, and by mid-summer her mind started to fade. She eventually lost the ability to speak, required an oxygen concentrator to breathe, and was fed through a tube.

Artistic Career

From 1987, Tamara Plashenko was a leading actress at the Kyiv Academic Drama Theater on Podil. She appeared in dozens of Ukrainian films and television series, as well as participating in international cinematic projects. The actress was a recipient of the 'Kyiv Pectoral' award and held the titles of both Honored and National Artist of Ukraine. Her stage performances, which became landmark events in theatrical life, included:

Her son, Volodymyr Kryzhanivskyi, shared an emotional tribute, noting that after his father's death she lost her will to live. He expressed the view that her illness was exceptionally complex and incurable.
