Kyiv Court to Hear Case of Man Selling Prosecutor Jobs for Cryptocurrency

According to Главком: Prosecutors from the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office have sent an indictment to court against a 62-year-old resident of Dnipro. The man is accused of promising jobs within the prosecutor's office in exchange for money. He allegedly offered his 'clients' positions at the Office of the Prosecutor General and a district prosecutor's office in Kyiv. For a role at the Office of the Prosecutor General, he demanded 25,000 euros, while he priced the position of head of a Kyiv district prosecutor's office at 25,000 US dollars.
The accused claimed to have connections with top officials at the Office of the Prosecutor General, assuring that after payment, his 'clients' would receive a call from the prosecutor's office summoning them to work. His criminal activities were uncovered in July 2025, following the transfer of funds to a cryptocurrency wallet he specified. This case highlights ongoing challenges with corruption in Ukraine, where public trust in institutions is crucial for stability.

The suspect's actions have been legally classified as:
- completed attempt to incite the provision of unlawful benefit;
- completed attempt at fraud;
- incomplete attempt to incite the provision of unlawful benefit;
