Yuliia Svyrydenko on the Holodomor: Russia is again using hunger as a weapon
Recently, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Yuliia Svyrydenko participated in memorial events honoring the victims of famines. She emphasized that this tragedy claimed the lives of millions of Ukrainians, who became victims of a brutal genocide planned by the Soviet regime. At the peak of the Holodomor, up to 25,000 people died every day.
Svyrydenko also noted that modern Russia continues its aggressive policy, using hunger as a weapon: mining fields, destroying food resources, and attacking Ukrainian territories. The Russian actions in Ukraine kill, destroy, and deeply torture, provoking fierce outrage among Ukrainians.
«But we are strong and we will not give up. We are fighting for our future and our past. We will defeat evil. Memory is our weapon that helps us not to forget the truth about the enemy. We thank all countries that recognized the Holodomor as genocide. The world must avoid repeating the tragic mistakes of the past by stopping Russian crimes. It is important for us to remember every victim and to pass this memory on to future generations. Today, let us light a candle in memory of the millions of Ukrainians who perished during the Holodomor.»
Participation in these events and the Prime Minister's statements underscore the importance of honoring the memory of the victims of famines and the necessity of fighting against modern threats to Ukraine's sovereignty. For Ukrainians, this serves as a symbol of unity and solidarity in difficult times.
