Ukrainian 'LightHome' Initiative Offers Apartment Buildings Up to 300,000 Hryvnias for Generators
Funding for Independent Power Sources Under 'LightHome' Program
According to ХВИЛЯ: The Ukrainian government has launched the 'LightHome' program to fund independent power sources for multi-apartment residential buildings. Applications opened on January 30, as announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal. This initiative enables homeowners' associations, housing cooperatives, and building managers to secure funding for equipping their buildings with generators, uninterruptible power supply systems, or solar panels.
State funding ranges from 100,000 to 300,000 hryvnias per building, depending on the number of floors and entrances. Applications can be submitted via the program's website or the 'Diia' portal. A commission under the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development will review submissions. The 'LightHome' program is active in communities where an official energy emergency has been declared. In its initial phase, it is available to residents of Kyiv and the Kyiv region.
Enhancing Energy Resilience and Social Stability
Prime Minister Shmyhal emphasized that supporting housing energy resilience is a key government priority amid ongoing attacks on the national power grid. The 'LightHome' program is part of a systemic approach to strengthen the energy resilience of apartment buildings, helping residents better endure prolonged blackouts and recover more swiftly after subsequent attacks.

Funding for autonomous power sources can significantly improve the quality of life for apartment residents, particularly given the frequent power outages that have become commonplace in many regions. This program not only promotes energy independence but also enhances social stability within the implementing communities. This support is crucial as Ukraine continues to defend its infrastructure and protect civilians from the severe impacts of targeted energy attacks.
