First 12 Apartment Buildings Awarded 3.3 Million UAH for Backup Power in New 'SvitloDIM' Program
'SvitloDIM' Program Launches with Initial Funding
According to Міністерство інфраструктури: The Ukrainian government's 'SvitloDIM' (Light Home) initiative is now operational, with its first grants approved for independent power sources. This program is a direct response to the widespread energy instability caused by attacks on the national grid.
A commission from the Ministry of Development has approved the first 12 applications under the 'SvitloDIM' program, allocating a total of 3.3 million hryvnias (UAH) for the purchase of autonomous energy equipment. The program officially launched on January 28, and these initial approvals demonstrate its rapid implementation.
The program's commission held its first meetings at the Ministry of Development on January 29, the day after the first applications were received. The 12 approved applications came from multi-apartment building associations in Kyiv and the Kyiv region. The total support amounts to 3.3 million UAH, with funds to be transferred to the applicants' accounts within 48 hours. It is noted that nine other applications were rejected due to incomplete documentation.
Use of Funds and Available Support
Once the funds are received, applicants will have 45 days to purchase the necessary equipment. The 'SvitloDIM' program provides grants ranging from 100,000 to 300,000 UAH. Residents will use this financial aid to buy:
- generators,
- batteries,
- inverters,
- battery management systems,
- solar panels.
According to a comment from Oleksiy Kuleba, a program representative: 'We are seeing the first results of the SvitloDIM program. Nine buildings in the capital and three buildings in the cities of Boryspil, Brovary, and Vasylkiv have received approval, and the funds will reach their accounts in the coming days. This means that more than 1,900 families will have autonomous power for water, heating, lighting, and elevator operation during blackouts.'
Oschadbank, Raiffeisen Bank, and Ukrgasbank have already joined the program, with three more banks set to participate soon. The commission works daily to ensure decisions are made as quickly as possible, which will accelerate the adoption of autonomous power solutions for Ukrainian families.
The launch of the 'SvitloDIM' program is a significant step toward ensuring energy independence for Ukrainian residents, particularly given the frequent power outages. Providing financial support for autonomous energy sources is designed to reduce strain on the national energy grid and ensure comfortable living conditions. Based on initial participant feedback, the program has the potential for further expansion and could stimulate the market for energy-efficient equipment in Ukraine.
