Russian Olympian in the Peacemaker database: why snowboarder Filipov was included
Russian ski mountaineer Mykyta Filipov, who has a chance to participate in the 2026 Olympic Games, has found himself in the database of the 'Peacemaker' website, as reported by 'Hlavkom'. According to the allegations, he supported the actions of the Russian authorities against Ukraine and spread war propaganda.
Other Russian athletes
Filipov is not the only athlete to find himself in a similar situation. Two other Russian athletes, Adelia Petrosyan and Petro Humennyk, are also contenders for participation in the 2026 Olympics and have been included in the database of 'Peacemaker'.
Participation of Russian athletes in the Olympics and other events
The 2026 Olympic Games are scheduled to take place from February 6 to 22 in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo. Among the notable participants is the neutral athlete, Russian speed skater Aleksandra Sayutina, who caused outrage among attendees during Putin's annual address to the Federal Assembly.
Propaganda and reaction
Another athlete, Russian skier Veronika Stepanova, shared a photo of Sayutina's participation in a propaganda event, where next to the speed skater were former military personnel supporting the dictator. This situation contradicts the IOC's recommendations regarding the behavior of neutral athletes.
Qualification stages of the World Cup
The race for qualification to the Olympics will cover four stages of the World Cup in speed skating, which will take place in the USA, Canada, the Netherlands, and Norway. The Olympics themselves will be held in Italy in February 2026.
