Ukrainian Anti-Corruption Prosecutors Seek Court Order to Seize $100,000 in Assets from Former Military Recruitment Chief
Anti-Corruption Prosecutors File Lawsuit
According to САП: The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) has filed a claim with the High Anti-Corruption Court, seeking to have assets acquired by the former head of the Kremenchuk District Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support declared unjustified. The prosecutors allege the assets were obtained between 2022 and 2024. This case is part of Ukraine's ongoing efforts to root out corruption within its institutions, a critical priority during wartime.
Assets Targeted for Confiscation
According to the claim, the assets subject to confiscation include:
- An apartment in a club-style residential building in the city of Kremenchuk,
- A 'TOYOTA LAND CRUISER PRADO' vehicle,
- The value of a 'TOYOTA RAV-4' vehicle and a portion of cash savings.
The total value of these specified assets exceeds 4 million Ukrainian hryvnias. Investigators assert that it would have been impossible to acquire this property using legitimate income, which formed the basis for the court filing.
Consequently, SAPO is seeking to confiscate property it believes was obtained illegally, aiming to restore legality and combat corruption.
This lawsuit forms part of a broader anti-corruption campaign in Ukraine, actively pursued by state bodies in response to public demand for transparency and accountability. Given the substantial value of the assets targeted for seizure, the case could significantly impact the future direction of anti-corruption policy in the country and encourage other authorities to enhance monitoring and control over the financial assets of public officials.
