Trump-Zelenskyy Meeting: A Push for a Peace Settlement

According to Главком: U.S. President Donald Trump is arranging a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to discuss the potential for a peace agreement. The meeting is scheduled to take place soon, with Zelenskyy expected to travel to Davos for talks with Trump on Thursday.

The United States also intends to discuss a peace plan separately with Kyiv and Moscow. Trump expressed confidence in the possibility of stopping the war, stating:

'If we are smart enough, we can stop wars.' - Donald Trump

He added that 'we can also end wars, it all depends on us.' Simultaneously, Trump emphasized the significant animosity between Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin, declaring:

'Zelenskyy and Putin hate each other incredibly strongly.' - Donald Trump

Potential Consequences of the Meeting

Trump also voiced the opinion that had he not been elected president, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine could have led to a Third World War. 'We will not have a Third World War. I think if I had not been elected, the war between Russia and Ukraine could have escalated into a Third World War,' he noted. According to Trump, 'if they don't do it, they are foolish. That goes for both. I know they are not foolish, but if they don't achieve this, they are just foolish.'

The Trump-Zelenskyy meeting in Davos could become a crucial step toward a peaceful settlement of the conflict and stabilization of the situation in the region. The national leaders are expected to discuss the details of a possible peace plan and pathways to a compromise.

This meeting marks a significant phase in U.S. diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, which has now persisted for several years. Cooperation between Washington and Kyiv could not only advance the peace process but also strengthen bilateral relations, which is key for stability in Eastern Europe. The outcome of the negotiations could have far-reaching implications for regional security and international politics as a whole.
