According to Главком: Authorities in Kyiv have held two drivers accountable for repeated traffic offenses and organizing street races through the city center. The individuals were operating a Range Rover and a BMW, and both cases also involved drifting. One of the drivers was reportedly boasting about his actions on social media. The patrol police identified the offenders and prepared administrative reports for the violations.

An investigative task force from the Main Department of the National Police in Kyiv was called to the scene. During the investigation, authorities found evidence of offenses under Article 290 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which covers the destruction, forgery, or replacement of vehicle identification numbers and components.

Consequences of the Offenses

Both vehicles were towed to an impound lot, and details of the violations were entered into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations. Penalties for such actions include:

  • a fine ranging from 150 to 250 times the tax-free minimum income of citizens;
  • up to two years of corrective labor;
  • or up to three years of restricted freedom.
