In Poland, the contribution to health insurance will increase: what will be the amount in 2026
The Polish government has confirmed that the minimum contribution to health insurance will increase starting February 2026. The preferential regime that was in place in 2025 will be canceled, so the base for calculations will once again be 100% of the minimum wage. This means that starting in February, the monthly contribution will rise to 432.54 zlotys, which is 117.58 zlotys more than now.
This is reported by the publication In Poland.
How the contribution amount changes
In 2025, a temporary mechanism allowed entrepreneurs to pay a contribution of 9% of 75% of the minimum wage. This amounted to 314.96 zlotys per month. The exemption was supposed to last until the end of January 2026, after which a new reform was planned.
However, the changes will not take place. President Andrzej Duda vetoed the bill intended to regulate the new calculation system on May 6, 2025, and the Ministry of Finance confirmed in October that it is not working to extend the reduced base.
Therefore, starting February 1, 2026, the contribution will once again be calculated based on the full minimum wage, which will be 4806 zlotys gross as of January 1.
New indicators for calculations
According to the current calculations:
- the contribution rate remains at 9%;
- the base is the full minimum wage — 4806 zlotys;
- the minimum contribution will be 432.54 zlotys per month;
- the increase will be about 37.3% compared to 2025.
In January 2026, the reduced rate will still be in effect, but starting in February, all entrepreneurs and employees will pay the updated amount.

The amount of contributions to health insurance in Poland directly depends on the level of the minimum wage, which the government reviews annually. The increase is aimed at stabilizing the funding of the National Health Fund (NFZ), which finances state medicine. At the same time, for small businesses, this means an additional financial burden, as the contribution amount will increase by nearly a third over the year.
