Military Pay Overhaul Announced: Extra Bonuses and Contract Incentives on the Way
PM Unveils Plans for Compensation Reform
According to Главком: Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko has announced that a reform aimed at boosting military compensation is in the works, with details expected to be released in the coming weeks. She made the statement during a parliamentary Q&A session with the government. The Defense Ministry is currently drafting changes that would introduce additional payments for service members. Among the proposed measures are an annual contract bonus of 27,000 hryvnias and a monthly supplement of 10,000 hryvnias for those who sign contracts.
Restructuring the Pay System
Svyrydenko emphasized that the government is calculating how to balance the budget to ensure these payments can be sustained both this year and in future years.
“These are significant sums. We are currently calculating how to balance the budget to ensure the continuity of these payments, both this year and in future periods,” she said.
The reform will also introduce defined service terms, a new pay matrix, and an updated financial support system for military personnel. Oleksandr Syrskyi had previously signaled changes to the military compensation system. Additionally, a minimum salary increase for troops is planned. Bohdan Kitsak announced that assault unit members could see their pay rise to between $7,000 and $10,000. These developments underscore the government’s serious commitment to supporting the armed forces during a challenging period.
The planned overhaul of military compensation highlights the government’s pledge to provide stable financial backing for the army. If successfully implemented, these changes could boost troop morale and readiness, as higher pay is a key factor in improving service conditions. The reform also represents a potential step toward strengthening national defense and enhancing social protections for service members.
As the government moves forward with its plans to enhance military compensation, it's important to note that proposed reforms could see infantry and assault troops receiving significantly higher monthly salaries.
