According to hvylya.net: EU Defense Commissioner Andrius Kubilius stated that the European Union is ready to enhance its support for Ukraine. During the Russian invasion, the EU and the USA provided military assistance to the country amounting to 60 billion euros from each side.
'Support from the EU and the USA for Ukraine's defense accounted for less than 0.1% of GDP. Since we are ready to spend 3.5% of GDP on our defense, we can allocate an additional 0.1%', Kubilius explained.
Kubilius emphasized that supporting Ukraine is not unachievable for the EU, but clear strategic planning is essential. With NATO's decision on defense spending at 5% of GDP, it has become critically important to include aid to Ukraine in the overall expenditures.
The European Union is prepared to support Ukraine in the context of escalating conflict and increase military support to ensure regional stability and the country's security.
