Official State Visit by Volodymyr Zelensky to Azerbaijan

According to Главком: On April 25, 2026, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky concluded his first official trip to Azerbaijan since the start of the full-scale invasion. During the visit, he met with President Ilham Aliyev, resulting in the signing of six bilateral agreements. These pacts focus primarily on security and economic cooperation, with particular emphasis on defense collaboration and boosting bilateral trade volumes between the two nations.

Diplomatic Talks and Joint Ventures

At a press conference, Zelensky declared Ukraine’s readiness to engage in trilateral negotiations involving the United States and Russia on Azerbaijani soil.

“Ukraine is ready to hold three-party talks with the US and Russia in Azerbaijan,” said Volodymyr Zelensky.

The president highlighted Baku as a reliable and constructive venue for discussing global security challenges. He further elaborated:

“We signed six documents today. Our teams will share the details later. These cover various areas. The top priority today is security-specifically the defense-industrial complex. Ukraine has shown resilience in this war against the aggressor and is now sharing its experience,” stated Volodymyr Zelensky.

Additionally, the countries plan to launch a co-production initiative, which Zelensky described as “very important steps that will certainly enhance the security of our nations and increase trade turnover between our countries-something we genuinely want to grow.” He also expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for backing Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, noting that this was his first visit to Azerbaijan during the war.

“I thank Azerbaijan for supporting our sovereignty and territorial integrity. Without a doubt, Ukraine has always supported the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan,” said Volodymyr Zelensky.

Zelensky’s trip to Azerbaijan underscores the growing importance of bilateral cooperation amid current global challenges. The signed security and economic agreements reflect both countries’ ambitions to strengthen their international standing. The proposed trilateral talks could represent a significant step toward regional stability, given the ongoing geopolitical landscape.
