Excise on fuel will rise from 2026: how much gasoline will become more expensive
Starting from January 1, 2026, Ukraine plans to increase excise taxes on fuel, which will lead to higher prices for gasoline and diesel fuel. The increase in the excise tax on fuel will be 1.5 hryvnias, and prices for gas may rise by up to 1 hryvnia per liter from February 2026, according to fuel expert Dmytro Leushkin.
The expert explained that before the excise taxes rise, the fuel market actively purchases products in advance, so for a certain period, prices will remain at previous levels. He also noted that at some gas stations, prices may rise due to increased costs of maintaining the stations and decreased demand due to the reduced season.
According to experts' forecasts, the increase in excise taxes on fuel may lead to a rise in the cost of living for the population and increase transportation costs for businesses, which will impact the overall economic condition of the country.
