Moisturizer Study Results: What the Research Reveals

According to НВ — Техно: July 1, 5:30 PM – A study involving 30 adult volunteers found that the hydrating effects of four widely used moisturizers-CeraVe, Cetaphil, Eucerin, and SkinMedica HA5-last only between 3 and 5 hours. The most expensive serum, SkinMedica HA5, delivered the longest-lasting results, retaining moisture for nearly 5 hours. In contrast, budget-friendly options like Cetaphil and Eucerin held hydration for roughly 3.5 hours or less, while CeraVe showed almost no improvement in skin moisture levels compared to untreated skin.

Researchers applied the products to the forearms of volunteers and recorded hydration levels before application, as well as 1, 4, and 24 hours afterward. These findings were published in the journal Skin. For best results, scientists advise reapplying moisturizers every 3 to 4 hours.

Why SkinMedica HA5 Stands Out

Priced at over 7,600 Ukrainian hryvnias, SkinMedica HA5 outperformed the other tested creams in terms of longevity. Its higher cost appears to translate into a longer duration of action, whereas more affordable alternatives like Cetaphil and Eucerin proved less effective in this regard. Meanwhile, CeraVe failed to produce any significant change in skin hydration during the study.

These results could have major implications for consumers aiming to keep their skin properly moisturized. The need to frequently reapply moisturizers highlights the importance of making informed choices when selecting skincare products. This research may also push the industry to develop new formulas that offer longer-lasting hydration.
