Drone from a boat disrupted SAS flight landing in Norway: details of the incident
In Norway, an SAS airline flight was unable to land in Tromsø due to a drone launched from a boat a few kilometers from the airport. This information was reported by the NRK portal. The incident occurred on Friday just before noon when the airport's surveillance system detected an unwanted guest in the sky.
'We spoke with someone who was apparently a Norwegian guide. He was ordered to land the drone immediately,' said Tromsø airport director Ivar Helsin Shrøen.
'The guide confirmed that he had a drone in the air, but believed it was outside the restricted zone, which was not the case,' added Shrøen.
The police confirmed that the drone was piloted by a citizen of Denmark, who was fined, and the drone was confiscated. Such incidents are becoming increasingly common in Europe, highlighting the need for stricter regulations concerning drones near airports.
Other drone incidents near airports
Several drone incidents disrupting airport operations have been recorded in Norway. Unfortunately, on September 30, the identity of the individual controlling the unmanned aerial vehicle near Brennaisson airport could not be established.
On Sunday, September 28, two incidents of drones appearing in flight restriction zones near airports in Norway were recorded, which forced the rerouting of passenger flights.
Furthermore, incidents involving unidentified flying objects resembling drones were observed in NATO member countries - Norway and the Netherlands. This confirms the need for effective measures to prevent similar situations.
The appearance of unmanned aerial vehicles near airports in Norway is becoming more frequent. The incident in Tromsø only emphasizes the need for strict control over the use of drones in hazardous areas that may threaten the safety of passenger aircraft flights.
