The European Union is changing cash payment rules: what awaits Ukrainians in Poland from 2027
Restrictions on cash payments in Poland
Currently, there are restrictions on cash payments for businesses in Poland. From 2027, the European Union will introduce new rules affecting cash payments. Generally, there are no restrictions on cash payments for individuals. However, for businesses, the maximum amount of cash transactions between companies is 15,000 zlotys.
Initially, new restrictions were planned to take effect from 2024, affecting 20,000 zlotys for individuals and 8,000 zlotys for companies, but these changes have been canceled. Instead, new rules adopted by the European Union will come into force in 2027. According to them, the maximum amount of cash payment will be €10,000, which is equivalent to approximately 42,000 zlotys.
Impact on the financial habits of Ukrainians
Moreover, for cash payments exceeding €3,000, identification will be required. This increases the level of control over large cash transactions and may affect the financial habits of Ukrainians living in Poland.
The implemented changes in cash payment rules may significantly impact the daily lives of Ukrainians in Poland, especially those who run businesses or frequently make large purchases. The increase in control over cash transactions may also help reduce the shadow economy. According to the new requirements, Ukrainians should be prepared for changes in their financial habits by 2027, which may require adaptation to new business and purchasing conditions.
