The Success of 007 First Light
According to НВ — Техно: IO Interactive’s new James Bond title, 007 First Light, has sold 2.2 million copies, generating approximately $150 million in revenue. The production budget reached 1.3 billion Danish kroner, roughly $202 million, making it the costliest entertainment product ever produced in Denmark. Sales were strongest on PlayStation 5, which accounted for 55.1% of all copies sold.
Platform Breakdown
According to data from Alinea Analytics, shared by representative Riss Elliott, the game also performed well on other platforms:
- Steam sales represented 33.1% of total sales;
- The Xbox ecosystem, including cloud services, contributed 11.8%.
Within the first 24 hours of release, 1.5 million copies were sold, signaling strong player demand. The game holds an 87 Metacritic score, the highest rating ever achieved by any project in IO Interactive’s portfolio.
A Nintendo Switch 2 version is scheduled for summer release. Notably, IO Interactive declined to comment on the game’s budget. Amazon Game Studios also holds a stake in the project, having acquired the James Bond intellectual property rights after finalizing the 007 First Light development deal. Amazon Games Studios has announced plans to publish all future 007 games, while IO Interactive has expressed interest in creating a trilogy set in the Bond universe.
In short, 007 First Light has not only achieved financial success but also highlighted the potential for further development within the James Bond universe.
Given the strong sales and positive reviews, future projects developed in partnership with Amazon Game Studios could strengthen the franchise’s position in the video game market.
