Kyiv Appeal Court Opens Path to Freedom for Shufrych: Bail of 33.2 Million UAH
Decision of the Kyiv Appeal Court
According to Главком: The Kyiv Appeal Court on January 6, 2026, made a decision to change the preventive measure for Member of Parliament Nestor Shufrych, opening the way for his release. The court allowed for a bail of 33.2 million hryvnias. Earlier, on November 10, 2025, presiding judge Olena Svyntsitska noted that Shufrych should remain in custody, believing that there is a risk of his flight and concealment.
Possible Consequences
According to information, if Shufrych is found guilty, he faces up to 15 years of imprisonment. The preventive measure was changed from custody to custody with the possibility of posting bail. Nestor Shufrych, who was charged with state treason in September 2023, also received a new charge in February 2024 for financing the Russian Guard in Crimea.
On September 15, 2023, Shufrych was detained and entered the detention facility of the Security Service of Ukraine. The decision of the appellate court allows him to be released on the condition of posting significant financial bail. Thus, the further steps in Shufrych's case remain in question, as the court proceedings continue.
The change of the preventive measure for Nestor Shufrych indicates possible changes in his legal status and may affect the further course of the investigation.
Posting bail in such an amount will allow Shufrych to remain free, which may cause public resonance considering the seriousness of the charges. Observers are awaiting further court decisions that may determine the fate of the MP and influence the political situation in the country.
