Ukrainian Pensioners Who Work to See Automatic Payment Recalculations Starting April 1
Automatic Pension Recalculation for Working Retirees
According to Міністерство соц. політики: Starting April 1, 2024, working pensioners in Ukraine will have their pension amounts automatically recalculated based on additional insurance tenure and salary earned. This adjustment applies specifically to individuals who continue to work after reaching retirement age. This policy is part of ongoing reforms to the country's social security system.
The automatic recalculation will factor in work experience gained over the last two years. For pensioners who have worked at least 24 months, their earned salary will also be considered. The resulting pension increase will depend on the salary level and the duration of the insurance period, which is defined as the time during which the single contribution to the mandatory state social insurance was paid.
The Recalculation Process
There is no need for pensioners to apply to the Pension Fund of Ukraine, as the entire process is handled automatically. This approach is designed to streamline administration and ensure timely updates without requiring paperwork from beneficiaries.
This measure forms part of the government's efforts to improve the financial support for pensioners who remain in the workforce and could positively impact their standard of living. Automating the recalculation process reduces administrative barriers and aims to ensure a fairer assessment of pensions by accounting for recent work experience and the ongoing contributions these pensioners make to the economy.
As the government continues to implement reforms, it's important to note that similar changes are set to take effect in the coming years. Starting April 1, 2026, there will be additional adjustments for working retirees, reflecting ongoing efforts to enhance the financial stability of this demographic.
