Elon Musk has set a new financial record, becoming the first person in the world whose net worth has reached $500 billion. This breakthrough was made possible by the rise of Tesla stocks and the success of his companies SpaceX and xAI Holdings. This was reported by Forbes.

According to Forbes, as of October 1, 2025, Musk's net worth reached $500 billion, making him the richest person on the planet, outperforming Larry Ellison by $150 billion.

Among Musk's key assets:

• 12% of Tesla shares – $191 billion;

• 42% of SpaceX shares – $168 billion;

• 53% of xAI Holdings shares – $60 billion.

A 4% increase in Tesla shares in just one day added $9.3 billion to his capital. The company's stocks nearly doubled after Musk announced in April that he would reduce his participation in the U.S. government's Department of Efficiency to focus on Tesla. Currently, his 12% ownership in the company is valued at $191 billion. 

Moreover, SpaceX, founded by Musk in 2002, is valued at $400 billion, where his stake amounts to $168 billion. Another $60 billion comes from his 53% share in xAI Holdings, created after the merger of xAI and X (formerly Twitter).

An additional factor could be the decision of Tesla's board of directors in September 2025 to offer Musk a new compensation package, which could bring up to $1 trillion if the company achieves ambitious goals, including an eightfold increase in market capitalization over 10 years.

By August of that year, he had entered the club of those whose net worth exceeds $100 billion, becoming the fifth person in history to do so. In January 2021, he topped the list of the world's richest people with $190 billion, reached $200 billion in September 2021, $300 billion in November, and $400 billion in December 2024. If current trends continue, Musk could become the world's first trillionaire by 2033.
