Top 10 professions that Ukrainians ignore despite hundreds of offers and high salaries

The labor market in Ukraine is teeming with vacancies that go unnoticed. According to data from the State Employment Service, over 200 such 'dead' announcements have been registered since the beginning of 2025, where no resumes have been submitted at all. 

The specificity of such vacancies lies in their narrowness: they require rare education or skills, often related to the industry or niches. Job seekers prefer universal roles in IT, trade or logistics, where salaries start from 20,000 UAH. However, employers insist: these professions are critical for infrastructure and safety. For example, escalator electricians ensure the operation of the metro, while chimney sweeps ensure heating safety in apartment buildings.

Top 10 vacancies with almost no responses from the unemployed

Here are the top 10 least in-demand vacancies since the beginning of the year, based on the number of offers without responses:

1. Escalator maintenance and repair electrician (40 vacancies): inspects mechanics and electronics for public transport safety.

2. Self-propelled railcar driver (24): operates a railcar for passengers or cargo in regions.

3. Assistant master (fiber processing and thread rewinding) (16): maintains weaving machines in the textile industry.

4. Chimney sweep (14): cleans chimneys from soot and checks heating systems.

5. Stage installer (14): sets up stages for concerts, arranges decorations and furniture.

6. Surgeon-proctologist (13): treats diseases of the large intestine and anal canal.

7. Government representative (12): implements anti-corruption or customs reforms, protects the rights of the disabled.

8. Professional qualification evaluator (11): tests candidates' knowledge for positions in the economy.

9. Researcher (library science, scientific and technical information) (11): develops methodologies and implements technologies in libraries.

10. Mobile concrete mixer driver (10): operates equipment on construction sites, performs maintenance.

These roles offer stability and salaries ranging from 15,000 to 30,000 UAH, depending on the region, but competition is zero. Experts advise: for retraining, contact employment centers – free courses will help you enter the niche.
