The distribution of new registrations by power types looked as follows:
- Hybrid cars led the way with around 230 thousand units, showing a 14% increase.
- Gasoline cars occupied the second place with 178 thousand registrations, but demonstrated a 16% decline.
- Fully electric cars garnered nearly 121 thousand registrations with an impressive 30% growth.
- Plug-in hybrids showed the highest growth dynamics at 55%, reaching over 70 thousand units.
- Diesel cars decreased by 17% to approximately 59 thousand registrations.
- Other types of engines accounted for about 19 thousand units with minimal growth of 2%.
For the first eight months of 2025, total sales of new passenger cars in the European Union decreased by 0.1% to 7,168,848 units. Previously, it was also noted which German cars are the most reliable on the road.
The European transport market is experiencing positive demand dynamics for new cars, particularly an increase in the popularity of hybrid and electric models, alongside a decline in demand for conventional engine cars. This may indicate a gradual transformation of the market towards environmentally friendly technologies and an increase in consumer awareness regarding pollution issues.
