According to glavcom.ua: Linguist Olga Vasilyeva shared her thoughts on the use of shortened forms of address in spoken style and the film industry. She emphasized the importance of preserving the vocative case in the Ukrainian language. This topic was discussed in the 'Language Issue' section on the 'Glavcom' website.

According to Olga Vasilyeva, shortened forms of address, such as 'mom', 'dad', or 'ba', are characteristic of spoken style, but at the same time, they lose relevance in written speech. The linguist noted that this is a form of saving linguistic effort, but also called for the use of Ukrainian forms of address and the vocative case.

We need to understand a simple thing: in spoken style, almost anything goes, and if a person finds it convenient to address someone shortly, then there will be 'mom', and 'Petya', and 'Kolya', rather than 'mom', 'Petryk', 'Mykola', - explained the linguist.

Overall, the discussion showed that the use of shortened forms of address in the Ukrainian language is a matter of discussion among specialists, however, it is important to preserve and promote Ukrainian linguistic traditions, including forms of address.
