Duties of pensioners who left the occupied territories

Pensioners who have left the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine are required to inform the Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU) about not receiving a pension from the Russian Federation in order to continue payments. This is an important step that will ensure the continuity of pension payments for those who have been forced to leave their homes due to military actions.

According to the requirements of the PFU, pension payments are made only if the person does not receive a pension from the pension authorities of the Russian Federation. For this, pensioners must submit the appropriate notification. The procedure for pension payments is approved by the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 299 dated February 11, 2025, which regulates the process of submitting applications and confirming the status of the pension recipient.

Identification procedure and submission of notification

Pensioners who are outside Ukraine for more than six months are also required to undergo physical identification by December 31. To simplify this process, the PFU has introduced an online video identification service that allows individuals to confirm their identity remotely. This is a convenient option for those who cannot personally visit the territorial agency of the PFU.

Regarding the ways to submit a notification, pensioners can choose one of the two options:

  • Submission online through the personal cabinet of the PFU, which provides an opportunity to perform all necessary actions quickly and conveniently.
  • Send a notification by postal delivery to the address of the territorial agency of the PFU.

The choice of method depends on the convenience of each pensioner, but it is important not to delay the submission of the application to ensure the continuity of payments.

Thus, compliance with these requirements is necessary to receive a pension and ensure the financial stability of pensioners who left the occupied territories of Ukraine.

These innovations aim to ease the lives of pensioners who find themselves in difficult conditions due to military actions. The importance of timely notification about not receiving a pension from the Russian Federation emphasizes the need to monitor financial flows that may impact the well-being of people affected by the conflict. Furthermore, the implementation of online services and simplification of identification procedures indicates the government's desire to adapt to new conditions and ensure access to social services for all citizens.
