After checking 1000 foreigners in Poland, including Ukrainians, some were deported

Checks of foreigners in Poland
Після перевірки тисячі іноземців у Польщі, зокрема українців, кілька з них були вислані за межі країни.

In Poland, the border service conducted a large-scale check of the legality of employment of foreigners. At a company with its headquarters in Gdynia, inspectors checked 923 employees, among whom were many Ukrainians, Uzbeks, Filipinos, and Kyrgyz. Based on the results of the inspection, it was decided to deport several foreigners. This is reported by the publication In Poland.

During the inspection, it was found that the company's general director held the position without the necessary work permit, and some employees performed their duties in violation of the conditions of permits or without them at all.

Illegal Employment and Violations by the Company

Border guards established that several employees were working illegally, and four individuals — two citizens of Georgia, one from Kyrgyzstan, and one from Sri Lanka — were in Poland illegally. They did not have valid residence and work permits.

In addition, about 200 cases were recorded where the employer did not inform state authorities about the refusal of foreigners to start work or about the termination of employment relationships. Such actions are violations of Polish labor and migration legislation.

Who is Under Inspection

Most of the checked workers — are citizens of Ukraine. They were employed in meat and automotive industries in the Pomeranian, Warmian-Masurian, Masovian, and Greater Poland voivodeships.

Polish border guards are already preparing a lawsuit against the employer, and administrative proceedings have been initiated regarding foreigners who violated the conditions of their stay or employment. They have been issued decisions on deportation from the territory of Poland.

Expert Commentary

Employment expert Vitalii Serhiovych Belenevets noted that such cases have been occurring more frequently lately:

«Polish border guards have significantly tightened control over the legality of foreign labor, especially in large companies. Employers often formally hire employees but make mistakes in reporting to authorities. As a result, the workers suffer — even those who have a permit may face fines or deportation if the documents are improperly arranged».

According to him, Ukrainians who plan to work in Poland should carefully check their work permit, type of permit, and the legality of the contract to avoid such situations.
