Emergency Funding Approved for Regional Water Infrastructure

According to Мін. Економіки: The Ukrainian government has decided to channel 124.8 million hryvnias from the state budget’s reserve fund to support water supply systems in the Dnipropetrovsk region. These funds will be transferred to the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, which will distribute them to two municipal utilities: KP Marhanetsvodokanal and the Pokrovsk Production Department for Water and Sewage Services. This decision comes as the region continues to face severe infrastructure challenges due to the ongoing war.

  • KP Marhanetsvodokanal will receive 56.3 million hryvnias
  • The Pokrovsk Production Department for Water and Sewage Services will get 68.5 million hryvnias

The allocated funds are intended to partially cover electricity costs and ensure the stable operation of these utilities under the difficult conditions of martial law. The support will directly benefit the communities of Marhanets and Pokrovsk.

Why Reliable Water Supply Matters

This funding represents a critical step toward maintaining consistent water access in the region, especially as war-related damage puts enormous strain on local infrastructure. By keeping these essential municipal services running, the government aims to uphold stability and offer a lifeline to residents striving for normalcy and recovery.

As the government allocates funds for water supply in the Dnipropetrovsk region, similar challenges are being addressed in other areas of Ukraine. For instance, the Economy Ministry is exploring solutions for Kharkiv’s water supply, highlighting the widespread need for reliable infrastructure amidst ongoing conflict. This broader context underscores the urgency of ensuring stable water access across multiple regions.
