Significant salary increase for teachers

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has approved the draft State Budget for 2026, which provides for a significant increase in teachers' salaries. On December 3, 2025, the deputies approved the budget, which allocates 64.6 billion UAH for salary increases for educators. This decision is the result of revisions, as earlier government proposals for the first reading of the budget only included 53.8 billion UAH. After discussions and adjustments, the amount increased to 59.8 billion UAH for the second reading.

Details of the salary increase

According to the adopted budget, starting from January 1, 2026, teachers' salaries will increase by 30%, and from September 1, 2026, by another 20%. In addition, 4.8 billion UAH is provisioned for further salary increases. Minister of Education Oksen Lisovyi noted that this is the result of systematic work by the government and the fulfillment of the President's instruction regarding salary increases for teachers.

'The most important thing: work on the new model will continue the adopted decision on salary increases. All educational workers will be guaranteed a legally defined increase in 2026', - said an anonymous author.

Thus, the new budget will provide significant financial incentives for educators, improving their working conditions and contributing to the development of the education sector in Ukraine.

This decision has important implications for the education system of Ukraine, as the increase in teachers' salaries can positively affect motivation and the quality of education. The increase in funding indicates the state's commitment to support the education sector and ensure the competitiveness of Ukrainian teachers in the labor market. In conditions of economic stability and growth in education funding, it is important to monitor the government's further steps in implementing these plans, as they may significantly impact the development of educational policy in Ukraine in the coming years.
