Workplaces for People with Disabilities: Which Areas Are Leading
According to information from the State Employment Service, total compensation payments have already exceeded 250 million hryvnias, and for the current year, 117 million hryvnias have already been allocated.
Since the program's launch in August 2023, 3 thousand employers have utilized compensation for the costs of equipping workplaces for people with disabilities, creating comfortable working conditions for 3461 of their employees.
Most Active Employers
The most active users of this program are employers in Kyiv and Cherkasy regions, as well as in the capital.
The maximum compensation for individuals with disabilities amounts to 120 thousand hryvnias for those who received group I disability status, and 80 thousand for those who received group II status. On average, payments to date amount to 79 thousand hryvnias.
Previously, compensation for equipping workplaces could only be obtained by employers who created new positions for people with disabilities. However, the program's scope has been expanded to include those who are bringing back employees injured during military service, who have become disabled as a result. Additionally, employers can now receive compensation for equipping their workplaces for individual entrepreneurs and self-employed individuals with disabilities (groups I and II), including veterans who started their activities after being discharged from military service or retirement.
Compensation covers costs for already purchased assistive devices, such as specialized furniture, electric stair lifts, braille keyboards, portable devices, sound systems, and aids for improving hearing and vision. The employer must submit a compensation application within 180 days from the date of employment/return to work of the person with a disability or registration as an individual entrepreneur.
The compensation program for equipping workplaces for people with disabilities has made significant strides in alleviating working conditions for this category of workers. The expansion of the conditions that determine eligibility for compensation indicates the government’s ongoing attention to the needs of people with disabilities and military veterans.
