Structure of Teachers' Salaries in Ukraine

This article examines the structure of teachers' salaries in Ukraine, their bonuses, and additional payments. The average income level for teachers is about 15,000 UAH per month, which is an important indicator for assessing the social status of educators in the country.

The basic salaries in December 2025 for teachers without a category will be:

  • 6,396.5 UAH - for teachers without a category
  • 7,450.3 UAH - for second-category teachers
  • 7,978.3 UAH - for first-category teachers
  • 8,505.2 UAH - for higher-category teachers

For calculating the basic salary, a sum of 3,195 UAH is used. It is important to note that according to government decree No. 22, the mandatory bonus is 10% of the salary.

Payments for length of service vary from 10% to 30% of the salary, and payments for job prestige range from 5% to 30%. There are also special payments:

  • for class leadership - 20%
  • for teaching an inclusive class - 20%
  • for checking notebooks - 15%

Since September 2023, all teachers receive 2,000 UAH monthly for work during wartime. Educators working in frontline areas receive 4,000 UAH monthly. Teachers in active combat zones can receive an additional 100% of their salary, and in zones of possible fighting - 50% according to decree No. 928.

In December, educators can expect a thirteenth salary provided there are unused funds from the educational subsidy. This system of payments and bonuses shapes the financial condition of teachers in Ukraine, which is undoubtedly a relevant issue in the context of the country's educational policy.

The Importance of Teachers' Salaries

Teachers' salaries in Ukraine remain an important aspect not only for the educators themselves but also for the education system as a whole. The structure of bonuses and allowances, which considers different categories as well as working conditions in wartime, demonstrates the government's efforts to support teachers. However, it is essential that these changes are accompanied by further improvements in the quality of education and working conditions for educators.
