State Audit Office revealed reconstruction problems: how prices are inflated by billions

The State Audit Office emphasizes the role of control over the efficient use of budget funds. The head of the institution, Alla Basalaeva, stressed this in an interview with the publication 'Glavkom'.

We operate within the tasks defined by the Ministry of Finance for 2025. The main task this year is to control the rational use of funds for defense and protection needs of Ukraine. It is also important to verify the efficiency of expenditures on reconstruction and the implementation of projects at the level of territorial communities.

According to Basalaeva, the biggest problems arise in controlling the reconstruction. For example, the value of contracts concluded can amount to millions or even billions of hryvnias.

Speaking about specific cases, Basalaeva emphasized that the State Audit Office does not miss any violations. Additional agreements and dubious purchases are under increased scrutiny. For instance, orders for shelters at inflated prices and other questionable purchases.

All these purchases have not gone unnoticed by the State Audit Office. We conducted monitoring in these cases. An additional contract for the procurement for the Lviv Lyceum, concluded on June 20 of this year, has been terminated, as has the main contract.

The situation with shelters in Krolevets already looks better, however, violations have affected the procurement result and forced the education department of the city council to terminate the contract.

The State Audit Office emphasizes the importance of controlling the rational use of money for defense and reconstruction needs. Notable stories and audit results confirm that all violations do not go unnoticed, and dubious purchases are under special control.
