Linguist Olga Vasyliyeva recommends replacing the English word 'blackout' with the Ukrainian 'znestrumlennya'. According to her, the Ukrainian language has enough expressions to describe this phenomenon and does not need borrowings from other languages.

She explained that 'blackout' means disconnection of electricity supply, and using the Ukrainian term 'znestrumlennya' will be more understandable and clear for everyone. The linguist also quotes Iryna Farion, who called for respect for the native language and avoidance of mixing it with other languages.

«If there is a fashion for French words – people will Frenchify. Learn English, but why mix it with Ukrainian? Do you also pour tea into uzvar?»

Olga Vasyliyeva also emphasized the importance of preserving traditional forms of address and language use and expressed her support for the idea of using Ukrainian expressions instead of borrowings.

Ukrainian linguists support replacing Anglicisms with Ukrainian words, stressing the importance of preserving and developing the native language in the modern world of communication and information.
