The athlete received a neutral status from ISU and the opportunity to qualify for the 2026 Olympics. In response to 'Glaсkom's' inquiry, ISU stated: 'Thank you for sharing the information with us. We confirm that we have received your information, and it is currently being reviewed.'
The International Skating Union (ISU) responded to the 'Glaсkom' inquiry regarding the presence of the 'neutral' Russian skater Aleksandra Sayutina at the annual address of the dictator Vladimir Putin to the Federal Assembly.
Controversies surrounding the athlete's presence at the event
As a reminder, the Russian figure skater Aleksandra Sayutina was present at the annual address of the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to the Federal Assembly, which became a topic of discussion. Together with other supporters of Putin, she participated in a propaganda event that sparked criticism and loud discussions.
Participation in such events is a gross violation of the IOC recommendations for neutral athletes. Despite this, Sayutina received visas to enter the USA and Canada, where the stages of the World Cup in figure skating are to be held.
Representatives of the International Skating Union answered questions regarding the presence of the Russian athlete at the event and granted her neutral status for participation in future competitions. At the same time, her participation in Vladimir Putin's propaganda event sparked discussions and criticism from the public and the sports community.
